Orange County · Legal technology, built to order
Software built around your practice,
not the other way around.
WYEA is a two-principal engineering firm serving Orange County law firms. We sit with your attorneys, learn how your matters move, and build the tool your practice needs, with the newest AI where it helps and rigorous engineering everywhere. One team, end to end, from the first conversation to the last support call.
Catered, not configured
No off-the-shelf platform bent to fit. We build for your document types, your local rules, your workflow, and nothing you don't use.
Verifiable AI
We use the newest AI where it helps, and we build guardrails so its output is checked against your source documents instead of taken on faith.
White-glove service
You work directly with the engineers who built your system. We train your staff, answer the phone, and keep improving the tool as your practice evolves.
What we build
Purpose-built tools for the work your firm does
Document review & drafting systems
Upload what you were served; get a grounded review and a first-draft response in your firm's pleading format. Built around your templates, your caption blocks, your signature lines.
AI with verifiable grounding
Our systems treat your uploaded document as the source of truth. A citation is only asserted when the exact quote is found verbatim in the source. Everything else is flagged for attorney review.
Practice-workflow automation
Discovery-stage tooling, deadline flagging, matter and client organization, and conflict-check prompts, shaped to how California litigation moves.
Secure, firm-owned deployments
Tenant isolation, tamper-evident records, and audit trails as first-class engineering requirements, not afterthoughts. Your documents stay yours.
How we work
White-glove from the first meeting
-
01
We come to you
We start in your office, with your attorneys and staff, learning the practice area and the pain points, not working through a feature checklist.
-
02
Working software in weeks
We build against your real documents and real workflow, and put a working system in your hands early, so your team's feedback shapes the build.
-
03
Deployed your way
Cloud or on your own infrastructure, with security and confidentiality engineered in from day one.
-
04
Supported, personally
The engineers who built your system train your team and stay on call. When your practice changes, the software changes with it.
Recent work
A review & drafting platform for a Newport Beach litigation firm
For a business-litigation firm in Newport Beach, we built a document review and drafting platform tailored to California pleading practice. An attorney uploads a document the firm was served; the system reviews it, flags issues, and drafts a response in the firm's own pleading format, grounded at every step in the uploaded source.
- Every citation verified. The system asserts a citation only when the exact quote appears verbatim in the source document. Anything it cannot verify is flagged.
- Built for discovery practice. Motions to compel, separate statements, and the deadlines that govern them, shaped to the high-volume stage where the firm spends its time.
- Tamper-evident by design. Completed reviews are content-hashed and cryptographically signed, with full tenant isolation between firms.
- The firm's own brief bank. The firm's prior filings power the drafting engine, so new drafts read like the firm's own work.
Confidentiality
Your documents are privileged. We build like it.
Everything we touch belongs to your clients. These three commitments come before the first working session:
Under NDA from day one
We sign a confidentiality agreement before we see a single document. Yours or ours, whichever your firm prefers.
Never used to train AI
Your clients' documents are never used to train AI models, ours or anyone else's. They stay in your firm's isolated environment, and they stay yours.
You can check our work
We build systems with audit trails and tamper-evident records, so you can verify what happened to a document rather than take our word for it.
Who we are
Two principals. No hand-offs.
Every WYEA engagement is led personally by the firm's two founding engineers.
Anderson Whittle
Principal Engineer & Co-Founder
Anderson is an AI/ML engineer. As a senior engineer at a fintech startup he helped scale the platform from a $20M to a $100M valuation, and inside a Fortune 100 bank he built machine learning for corporate risk technology. A Georgia Tech alum, at WYEA he leads the engineering that makes AI safe to put in front of a law practice: grounding, verification, and security from the first line of code.
LinkedIn ↗Johnson Ye
Principal Engineer & Co-Founder
Johnson is a Senior Engineer at Amazon and a UC San Diego alum, with more than eight years in software and AI. At Amazon he led a third-party seller platform for one of the fastest-growing markets in the world, opening a new marketplace to thousands of merchants. At WYEA he leads product and delivery, starting with how a firm works and then building software that fits it exactly. Johnson cares about the small things, because the small things are what make people trust the whole.
